Drawing portfolio (Second semester)

Tropical plants series 2/2 (Succulent Crassula inspired bangles)

As part of the work that I had to produce for my BA honours degree, there was a drawing component that had to show the design process on paper. The following series of images shows the design process of the Succulent Crassula inspired bangles, as well as the Plumeria Acutiflora inspired earrings.

Tropical plants series1/2 (Plumeria Acutiflora inspired earrings)

With this piece I wanted to challenge myself by manufacturing a piece that has weaving added directly onto a base structure without having to solder. I used the plumeria acutiflora as inspiration.

Concept drawings and exploration of the shape that I have identified

Concept development of experimental piece.

Concept development along with how the main structure is put together.

Concept development continued, this time with more focus on the earring concept.

I decided on the option of melting the ends of each components as a design feature. Drawing the piece on the body gives a good indication of what it will look like.

I had a concept of using the woven elements in a ring. The concept was eventually not used.

Design development leading up to the final design.
